This is another great Laugh Out Loud book about race and poverty. Of course the cover caught my attention!!!
Mishna Wolff tells her story of growing up with her single father who thinks he is black. They live in a black neighborhood and her father is constantly telling her to stand up for herself and find some sisters. Her own sister fits in, she can dance and is able to make friends easily.
What makes the conflict in Mishna's life is that she attends a school for smart kids which happens to be mostly made up of rich white kids. The story takes a turn from race conflicts to economic differences but once you read this you will realize that both go hand in hand and Mishna is caught in the middle of these issues.
This is a great read!!
